What are CFGs?

Each teacher at St. Anne's-Belfield School participates with colleagues in a Critical Friends Group. In past years, these groups have been formed around common topics of interest or professional growth goals. For the 2014-15 school year, each CFG is using The Tuning Protocol to engage with colleagues in fine-tuning pedagogy one lesson at a time.

What is The Tuning Protocol?

The Tuning Protocol used at St. Anne's-Belfield School is rooted in the National School Reform Faculty documents as well as those used by the Klingenstein Center for Independent School Leadership, Teachers College, Columbia University.

This protocol was promoted by one of our teachers,Caitlin Dean, who had learned and practiced it at the Klingenstein Summer Institute in 2013. A pilot group of teachers in grades PS-4 practiced it in their Critical Friends Groups during 2013-14. CFGs in all Divisions are implementing the Tuning Protocol in 2014-15.
